Here is me, my brother, and my sister back in the good old days. I was truly blessed to have such a great friend so early in life and I will never forget what a great dog he was. Bubba was a true red nose pitbull from south Georgia given to us by my Grandfather when I was just old enough to walk. He grew with us becoming a part of our family, taking upon himself the duties of guardian. He was a well mannered dog who really didn't pay much attention to other dogs or people unless they were acting strange around any member of my family. There was only one time that I had a chance to witness what he was capable of and that was when a neighbors dog notorious for chasing people around messed up and growled at my family as we exited our car, all I saw was a red blur, then I heard some growling, then alot of yelping, then as fast as it happened it was over and the neighbors dog was sent running tail tucked yelping like he was dying. The best part was the reaction of Bubba, which was like nothing had even happened, greeting us with a wagging tail. Needless to say that dog never came by again and seemed to actually stay in his yard content to bark from a distance. As a little kid I always recongnized the respect that Bubba got from the get go, but I never understood people's fears he was just Bubba to me. Bubba was forever a country boy at heart and could not handle it when we moved to the city, he had never been fenced or had to worry about traffic. It's kind of fitting to Bubba's life story that the man who found Bubba didn't know him but went out of his way to tell us about our dog because he said Bubba was such a gentleman and great dog even in so much pain. We all got to say one last goodbye, but it broke my heart seeing the pain in his eyes and fighting for his last breath. Bubba was hit by a car down the street from our house and died shortly there after. Growing up with a pitbull is a totally differant kind of love and if you were lucky enough to have had that experience than you know what I mean. There will never be another Bubba but I have 2 great dogs now that help me get by and I will be damned if they do not see a ripe old age. I thought everyone that visited my sight should know a little of what I am about, so I decided to tell the story of my first dog and if you still don't know why I love and own Pitbulls you never will.
